‘In The Bleak Midwinter’ is a traditional carol, with a Rossetti lyric which has been set over the years by both Harold Darke and Gustav Holst. This arrangement is based on the Holst, and is in a contemporary jazz straight 8s feel. Beginning slowly and quietly with a solo, it builds to a louder verse 3, and after a key change falls back to the mood of the start.

Ideal for the middle of a Holiday (Christmas) set, it is a new twist on a standard, that leaves it recognizable and enjoyable.
