'Quiet' is from the 2010 Tim Minchin musical 'Matilda', which won 7 Olivier awards and 5 Tonys. It’s a song about an introvert child, who feels different, and the lyric is about need for 'quiet', both mentally, from internal emotion, and physically, from the world outside. It expresses an anger which cannot be expressed, and finishes with calm.

Originally written to be sung by a little girl, this arrangement was devised for a choral show about being different in America in 2013. It featured a 12 year old boy soloist, whose voice was beginning to change. The solo could also be sung by an adult tenor, and demands clarity of diction.

The arrangement is largely a solo feature, and the chorus parts are simple and brief. The chorus acts as support, expressing the feelings of the protagonist.
