Juror at Malaysian Choral Eisteddfod 2026
My heart is full of gratitude this morning. Huge congratulations to everyone involved in the Malaysian Choral Eisteddfod 2026. 220 choirs, thousands of participants across every age, ability and style, and a truly international festival, with singers from Russia, Kosovo, Indonesia and the Phillipines, as well as Hong Kong, Thailand and of course Malaysia.
Thanks to the jury team who could not have been supportive and kind to this jury newbie - international experts all! There were too many to mention everyone, but shout out to Jonas Rasmussen, Josu Elberdin, Gene Petersen, Roni Sugiarto, Dinar Primasti, Dominic Lucien Luk, Jaymin Baird, Jeroen Keymeulen, Kelvin H. Lau, Koh Tian Yi, Lee Hyun Chui, Lee Shiak Yao, Sanders Lau, Tan Yu Hang and Wong Su Sun.
I can now separate my Gold from my Silver and Bronze like a pro. Funnily enough, that brain and the speed writing skills all came back really fast, after my days training ABRSM jazz examiners!
Thanks too to the amazing Festival Staff, who worked so hard, and went the extra mile on so many occasions to make the festival efficient and smooth, and make us all comfortable.
AND of course huge thanks to the powerhouse that is Artistic Director Susanna Saw. Her joy, resilience and energy is contagious, and so is her passionate commitment to changing the world through song, at a time when that change could not be more needed.
Let’s keep building connection, community and belonging around the world through this vital but above all HUMAN choral work that we all do!
